A long time ago, there were people with noble hearts in Japan. They were called "Samurai"The Samirai (or Bushi) were the warrious of Pre-Modern Japan. They later made up the military class  that eventually become the highest ranking social caste of the Edo Period ( 1603-1867). Samurai employed a range of weapons such as bows, arrows, spears and guns. Their mai weapon and symbol was the " katana"(sword). Samurai were supposed to lead their lives according to ethic code of " Bushido" (the way of the warrior). Storngly confunction in nature, Bushido stressed concepts such as loyalty to one's master, self-discipline and respectful, ethical behavior.

Next, I'd like to introduce more information about "katana" (Japanese sword). It is the symbolof Samurai. Samurai always wear a katana because katana is identifying mark for Samurai. Of course, katana is used to kill people .Katana seems to be the strongest sword in the world. However, even the katana isn't easy to strike down with a single stroke of the sword. So, samurais were trained very intensely . Then samurais created some fighting styles. For example, "Iaijutsu" is a combative quick-draw sword technique. Some samurai fighting styles have turned into the present martial arts we see today. Another example is Kendo.

Next, there is "Seppuku". Seppuku is a form of Japanese ritual suicide and execution by disembowelment. Seppuku was used either voluntarily by samurai to die with honor rather than fall into the hards of their enemies or as a form of capital punishment for samurai who had committed serious offenses, or performed because they hd brought shame to themselves. When samurai do seppuku, he takes a short blade then stabs it into his abdomen-drawing the blade from left to right . Then another samurai cut off their head. Samurais have strict rules to become more strong. However, samurai became extinct in 1868 because foreign countries had developed guns.

Nowadays, many foreigners are interested in samurai. I heard some people came from other countries to learn Bushido ( how to use katana). In fact, the samurai left became extinct 400 years ago. However, Japanese people have taken over the samurai spirit since the 10th century. I believe that Japanese people should cherish this tradition and tell other countries about the legend. If you come to Japan, you can experience samurai cultures.
